Harold W. Springer
May 15, 1926 — July 23, 2017

Harold W. Springer Harold W. Springer, age 91 was called home to Heaven on July 23, 2017, welcomed by his beloved wife, Helen, of 56 years. Harold was a lifelong Waukesha resident. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II in France, Belgium and Germany. He received a Purple Heart to honor wounds he suffered in The Battle of the Bulge, at age 19. He truly was a member of the greatest generation. Harold returned from the war and began his 37-year career as a Waukesha mail carrier. He and his father, John, began a window washing business to supplement income during the postwar period. Harold continued the business serving Waukesha residents and businesses. In retirement, he did  maintenance work at Moreland Medical Center. Harold had a terrific sense of humor and enjoyed getting to know people.

Harold is lovingly survived by daughters Linda (Tim) Moeller and Mary (Phil) Hanson and by grandchildren Julie (Robert) Couden, Brian Moeller, Christie Hanson and Sarah Hanson. He is also survived by sister, Marlene Murphy, and by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Olga Springer, and sister, Marguerite Raduechel.

Harold loved all of his many fishing trips to Pasha Lake in Ontario, Canada. His family will forever cherish his funny sayings that are now a part of us.

Visitation for Harold will be held on Thursday July 27, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., Waukesha, with funeral services at 6 p.m. Burial with military honors will take place at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha on Friday at 10 a.m. The family wishes to thank Seasons Hospice and Lois Z. for their compassionate care. If desired, memorials can be made to the family, and will be directed to Harold’s favorite charities.
