Thomas Charles Rust
Oct. 2, 1957 — July 21, 2017
Thomas Charles Rust found peace that passes all understanding in the kingdom of heaven on Friday, July 21, 2017.
He is survived by his father, Donald (Gail) of Waukesha; brother, John (Deborah) of Silver Spring, Md.; niece, Lauren A. Rust of Albuquerque; stepbrothers Matthew Zuchowski of Waukesha and Luke Zuchowski (Browyn), parents of Nicholas and Elena of Wales. He also is survived by uncles Thomas Baldwin (Jean) and Dale Mayland, all of Owatonna, Minn. He is further survived by many relatives from his mother’s family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois M. Rust, in 2003, and aunt Ardyce Mayland.
At age 59, Tom had many years left of unfulfilled accomplishment.
After graduating Waukesha South High School in 1975, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for two years. He then spent several years traveling the western part of the U.S., working at many different occupations, where he discovered the value of making a living by intellect rather than labor. His greatest asset was a genuine interest in dealing with people, which led him to success in sales and people service occupations. After settling for a time in Phoenix, he rapidly advanced in the auto dealer field, where he quickly rose to sales management positions. Upon returning to Waukesha, he founded and operated Waukesha Cab Co. from 2011 until 2017.
Along with his father, Tom loved the game of golf and the two enjoyed golf courses whenever they could. Tom’s company was also greatly enjoyed by his many friends on and off the golf course.
An experience in the Arizona desert one night in 1993 where he was born again brought him to a new relationship with God. From that time on, even through periods of severe suffering, his faith was never lost.
His ready smile, his warm outreach and easy camaraderie will be so greatly missed by his loving family and many steadfast friends.
Tom, your memory will be a light always, in the hearts of all of us.
“And he said unto Jesus, ‘Lord remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.’ And Jesus said unto him, ‘Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in Paradise.’”— Luke 23:42
In lieu of flowers or other memorials, gifts in Tom’s memory are suggested for the Salvation Army, 445 Madison St., Waukesha 53186.
