Leonard Banda Jr., 75, died July 19, 2017, in Oakland, California, from congestive heart failure. He was born in Waukesha, attended St. Joseph’s grade school and Catholic Memorial High School (Class of 1960 president), earned a BA degree from UW-Milwaukee in 1967 and master’s from UC Berkeley in city planning and became a city planner for city of Fremont, California.
He is survived by his son, Paul; first wife, Lynn Taylor; second wife, Mary Passeri; sister Mary Casper; and seven nieces and five nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leonard Sr. and Ursula Melendes, and siblings Rueben, Dolores Gurda and Phillip.
was erudite and traveled extensively with his wife Mary. Family was
important and he always offered whatever help he could, and always with
great cheer. Hence, he was admired for his caring altruistic nature and
sense of humor. His good character was an inspiration for those that
knew him. He will be greatly missed.
