Gloria M. Wanta (nee Plachinski)

Gloria M. Wanta (nee Plachinski) of Waukesha passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 4, 2017, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 73. Gloria was born on July 12, 1944, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Wenzel and Alice Plachinski.
She attended and graduated from Cudahy High School in 1962. She married her husband, Brian Wanta, in 1964, whom she later divorced in about 1977. Gloria worked as a nurse’s assistant until her retirement at age 65. She loved going on trips, especially with her sisters, to Florida and Las Vegas. She also loved shopping, going to plays at the Fireside and supporting the Green Bay Packers.
Gloria was a fun and spunky woman with a sassy sense of humor and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Rene Bjerke, and son-in-law Jeff Bjerke; her grandchildren, Kari, Melanie (Robert Boulka), Stacey and Jeremy; and her sisters Marilyn Mirkos and LuAnn (Ken) Pendzich. She is further survived by her aunts, Carol Brassington and Marlene Biesterveld, and her nieces and nephews, Sara (Chris) Hovelson, Michelle Pendzich, Steven Pendzich, Tommy Mirkos, and Debbie (Joe) Cwiklinski.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Wenzel and Alice, and her daughter, Brenette Asleson.
The visitation for Gloria will be held on Sunday, August 27, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m.
