Howard Carl Scheunemann

Howard Carl Scheunemann of Oconomowoc was born on Flag Day June 14, 1924, in Milwaukee. He passed away on September 24, 2017, at the age of 93 years.
He enlisted in the Navy in 1942. He was awarded 12 medals and 13 battle stars and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation. For his heroic action during the Korean Conflict, Admiral Joy presented him with the Bronze Star on July 11, 1950, aboard the USS Juneau. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years and the Oconomowoc Post Office also after 21 years. He was a Fleet Reserve member since 1963. He was a life member of the Oconomowoc VFW Post 2260 and a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his children, Melody Scheunemann Sladky (Stephen) and Daniel Scheunemann; his sister, Deloris “Tina” Popp; grandchildren, Lindsay Sladky O’Morrow, Katie Sladky Trefftzs, Nathan Sladky and Nicholas Sladky; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes.
Friends may visit on Monday, October 2, from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. all at the Schmidt & Bartelt Notbohm-Kreutzmann Funeral Home, 121 S. Cross St., Oconomowoc. Final rest will be in Glenview Memorial Gardens.
