Daniel John Winter

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Daniel John Winter of Waukesha passed away on October 4, 2017, at the age of 69 surrounded by his loving family. Daniel was born in Milwaukee on November 8, 1947, the son of Daniel H. and Dolores V. Winter.
On May 9, 1970, Daniel married the love of his life, Jane Kutschenreuter at St. William Catholic Church. He was a 1965 graduate of Messmer High School, a member of the 32nd Military Police Company National Guard, and a 1980 graduate of Carroll College. Daniel was also a longtime member of St. William Catholic Parish.
He coached soccer for the Waukesha Parks and Rec and the Spring City Soccer Club for over 15 years, and was a charter member of the Spring City Soccer League. In 1999 Daniel joined the Waukesha Elks Lodge #400 and was the exalted ruler from 2004 to 2005. He worked for over 24 years as a chemical lab manager at MRPC until his retirement in 2012.
Daniel enjoyed reading, golfing, bowling, and trying his luck at the casinos. He also enjoyed vacationing in Door Country and the Minocqua areas. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers and attended several Packers games each year. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Daniel will be dearly missed by his wife, Jane; sons, Christopher (Lara) and Michael (Heidi); grandchildren, Logan, Brianna and Madelyn; sisters, Barbara (Jim) Christus and Ellen (Robert) Schulz; brother, John (Ruth) Winter; and sister-in-law, Karen Kutschenreuter.
Daniel is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The first visitation for Daniel will be held on Thursday, October 12, from 4 p.m. until the time of the Elks Lodge of Sorrow service at 6:30 p.m. at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188. A second visitation will be held on Friday, October 13, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188.
Entombment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
