Karl R. Thew of Waukesha passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at AngelsGrace Hospice at the age of 79.
He was born on September 21, 1938, in Highbridge, the son of Eli and Hattie (Tuyls) Thew.
Karl proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his discharge, Karl worked diligently for Waukesha Motor Works as a machinist for 46 years and was involved in the Machinist Union. He was an avid softball player and coached his children’s softball games when they were young. Karl also enjoyed bowling, birdwatching, country music and western movies. Karl was a huge jokester and relished in making his friends and family laugh. Most importantly, Karl was a family man. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Karl will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Nancy; children, Cindy (Bruce) Resler, Debra (Orson) Grabow, Dawn (Karl) Poss and Kim (Jerry) Streng; grandchildren, Kristin Hallett, Kyle Congdon, KC, Jessica Grabow, Curtis Grabow, Tiffany Poss and Karl Poss; and great-grandchildren, Canaan and Kali Hallett. He is further survived by his grand-dogs, Daisy, Auggie, and Olive.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Deloris, Eli Jr. and Gen.
The visitation for Karl will be held on Saturday, October 14, from 9 a.m. until the time of the 11 a.m. memorial service at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS), 701 Northview Road, Waukesha, WI 53188; or to the Hurricane Harvey c/o American Red Cross, P.O.
