Janet “Jan” L. Holter, 76, passed away on October 19, 2017, in the Lawlis Family Hospice center at Columbia St. Mary’s (Mequon). She was born June 2, 1941, in Morris, Ill., to Eber and Fern Hume, and was the older sister to E. David Hume of Morris.

She and Carl Holter (Hatton, N.D.) met in October 1966, married on May 28, 1967, and spent the next 50 years together as the best of friends and partners in love.

Jan will be remembered as a hospitable host, an inspirational and motivational teacher of Bible classes and piano lessons, greeting card creator, devoted wife, proud mother, adoring grandmother, beloved sister and trusted friend.

She is survived by her loving husband, Carl; their three children, Daniel (Kate) Holter, Mark (Shea) Holter and Joy (Jamie) Zaffke; and seven grandchildren, Elias, Samantha, and Grayson Holter, Abigail and Seth Holter, and Tyler and Isabella Zaffke.
