Joyce ‘Nana’ Thelen|
Joyce “Nana” Thelen, 86, has gone to heaven to be reunited with her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert Thelen, who left us in 2015.
Joyce grew up on Okauchee Lake in the Kutschenreuter household, graduated from Oconomowoc High School and met her love — Robert. They were married in 1950 and spent much family time with their five children on Okauchee Lake, camping in Minocqua, and hunting and fishing at their Rush Lake home in Nepeuskun.
Joyce started the Okauchee PTA, and movie nights, joined OHS Booster Club and attended all her children’s concerts and sporting events.
Joyce worked many years for AgriStor. After retiring from there, she helped at Clearview Home. Her favorite job was being a full-time Nana for her grandchildren that she loved so much.
As Joyce’s family grew up, she and Robert spent their time at their children and grandchildren’s many sporting events, band concerts and race car events while also enjoying NASCAR, the Green Bay Packers, Slinger Speedway and time up north.
Joyce had five children that she loved dearly: Dennis (Sue) Thelen, Robert II (Laura) Thelen, Kathy (Phil Korth), Gregg (Suzi) Thelen and Todd (Elizabeth) Thelen. Her 12 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild were treasures that she cherished.
Joyce spent her last year surrounded by some amazing caregivers that made her days special. Thank you to Matt, Amy and Chloe from Hometown Hospice and Haley, Lynne, Jolynn, Mandi, Angela and Amber for all your valuable time with Nana! Thank you Pagenkopf Funeral Home for the final preparations.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be Saturday, December 9, at Kick Switch Bar & Grill, N51-W34950 E. Wisconsin Ave., Okauchee, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Oconomowoc Sports Booster Club or Rush Lake Watershed Restoration, Inc.
