Emmy Dorothy (Kadlec) Quirt

Emmy Dorothy (Kadlec) Quirt, age 97, passed away on December 18, 2017, at the Kirkland Crossings Memory Care unit in Pewaukee after a long and well-lived life filled with love, family and friends. She was born in Spruce on February 15, 1920, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Slatky) Kadlec.
She married Charles David Quirt on July 10, 1941.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; three brothers (Ernie, Leonard and Herbert); four sisters (Charlotte, Gertrude, Irene and Ruby); daughter-in law Judith (Gerczak) Quirt; as well as nephews Richard Craig, James Murphy and Gary Quigley; and grandniece Jennifer (Craig) Bernsteen.
Emmy is survived by her children Marjorie King (Douglas) of Mount Horeb, Peggy Dosen (James) of Longmont, Colo., Charles Quirt of Madison, Thomas Quirt (Carol Van Hefty) of Sheboygan, and Dan Quirt (Patricia Orth-Rhyner) of Waukesha. Emmy is also survived by her grandchildren: (Marjorie) Laura Ashleigh and Ginny King, (Peggy) Stephanie Dosen Hart and Zachary Dosen, (Charles) Matthew and Benjamin Quirt, (Thomas) Dana Quirt Krepsky, Justin and Nathan Quirt, (Dan) Jon Rhyner and Kimberly Quirt; and six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Carly, Woodson, Christian, Aubrey and Simon. She is also remembered by special loving nieces and nephews and their families, Marlene and Tony Jasen and sons; Pat and Dick Feuling and sons, Mary (James) Murphy, Mike and Mary Anne (Riley) Craig, Ed and Kathy (Craig) Bertrand, Ken and Darlene (Kadlec) Thompson, Patrick and Trudy Quigley and Bob and Katie (Quigley) Johnson.
Emmy worked in Milwaukee early in her life and was a member of Little River’s Extension Education (Homemakers) for over 50 years, serving as county president for three years as well as secretary and treasurer. She was also project leader with the Little River 4-H club for 15 years, funeral chairman at St. Joseph’s church in Oconto for many years, volunteer worker at the Oconto Nursing Home for 25 years, and a member Queen of Apostles Church Funeral Prayer Shawl Group, Pewaukee.
Her family rejoices in her transition to a life free from pain and her reunion with departed loved ones. We also thank the outstanding staff at Kirkland Crossings for their dedication, compassion and care.

A memorial will be held at the Church & Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road, Waukesha, on Saturday, January 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
