David M. Mallow, age 56, of Watertown, passed away on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at his home following a courageous battle with ALS.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Ixonia with the Rev. Joel Free officiating. Family and friends may gather at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Friday evening from 4:00 Ė 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the church or the ALS Association. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. David Merlin Mallow was born on Jan. 6, 1962, in Oconomowoc, the son of Merlin and Joyce (nee Kinert) Mallow. He was a 1981 graduate of Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills. On Aug. 4, 1984, he was united in marriage to Shelly Kehl at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon. In addition to working on the family farm, Dave had been employed as a Diesel mechanic at Wis-Pak in Watertown. He also was a former employee of Hoefler Excavating in Ixonia and the Jefferson County Highway Department. He was a member of St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Ixonia, where he served on the St. Paulís Lutheran School Board. He enjoyed playing dartball and was an avid outdoorsman. Dave enjoyed playing baseball in high school and softball after graduation.
Dave is survived by his wife, Shelly Mallow of Watertown; children, Josh (Shannon) Mallow of Ixonia, Jessica (Adam) Trexler of Ixonia, Stephanie (Tom) MacAskill of Watertown and Tim (Kaitlyn) Mallow of Watertown; grandchildren, Kylynn Trexler and Oliver Mallow; mother, Joyce Mallow of Watertown; siblings, Mark (Diane) Mallow of Watertown, Curt Mallow of Wausau, Jeff (Jeri Jo) Mallow of Hartford and Michelle (Tim) Doyle of Watertown as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father in 2001.
