Laurence ‘Larry’ V. Smith

Laurence “Larry” V. Smith passed away on January 19, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. He was born on September 18, 1945, to Frank A. Smith and Inez M. Smith in Milwaukee.
Larry graduated from Waukesha South High School in 1963, where he participated on the track team. Then, he moved back to Waukesha, where he eventually started his own CPA firm in 1979 until 1993.
He became a member of Ducks Unlimited in Waukesha, where he was the treasurer. Then, upon moving to Nelson, he took the position of zone chairman and worked with the Buffalo and Pepin County chapters. He became a life sponsor of Ducks Unlimited in 2009.
He and Inez (Sorensen) were married in 2002 in Elkhorn, and moved to Black River Falls when Larry retired from the accounting field.
He has been a member of St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (now Guardian Angels Catholic Parish) in Black River Falls.
Larry is survived by his wife, Inez Smith, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Hansen Smith in 2001, and his mother, father and aunts.
Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. noon, Tuesday, January 23, at Guardian Angels Catholic Parish, 507 Main St., Black River Falls, WI 54615, with Father Emmanuel Famiyeh officiating. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the church in Black River Falls. Visitation continues from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday, January 25, at the Cesarz, Charapata, & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188, with a private burial at Rochester Cemetery in Burlington.
Torgerson’s Funeral Home in Black River Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.
