Nancy R. SchumannNancy R. Schumann, 67, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at her home. Nancy Ruth Stoltenburg was born in Ortonville, Minn., the daughter of Ernest and Florine (Nieno) Stoltenburg. She was baptized in Ortonville, and confirmed by the Rev. Mathias at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton, Iowa. Nancy attended St. Martin’s Lutheran Day School and Clinton Public High School, graduating in 1968. She was also a 1972 graduate of Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minn. On Aug., 13, 1977, Nancy was united in marriage with Timothy Schumann of Watertown. After graduation and prior to her marriage, Nancy taught at Bethlehem Lutheran Day school in Hortonville, and Our Savior Lutheran School in Grafton. After marriage, Nancy worked as a nurse at the Schoitz Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa, and again as a teacher at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Day School in Waukesha. Nancy also taught piano to many students over the years at the White House of Music in Waukesha.

Nancy was a faithful and loyal wife to her husband and a tender and loving mother to her two children. She now rests securely at the side of her Lord and Savior in heaven.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Timothy of Maquoketa; two children, Megan (Ben) Buschkopf of West Allis and Mark Schumann of Madison; two grandchildren, Ingrid and Micah Buschkopf. Nancy is also survived by her twin brother, Ned (Myrna) Stoltenburg of Maquoketa, and sister Marcia (Robert) Hutchins of Prior Lake, Minn., as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Mark and John Stoltenburg.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Savanna, Ill., with the Rev. Daniel Foelske officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, Ill., and at the church on Saturday at 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the St. Peter Lutheran Church Scholarship fund in Nancy’s memory.
