Juanita ‘Nita’Williams Youmans Juanita “Nita” Youmans died February 5,2018, in Bradenton, Fla., at the age of 92. Nita was born in Waukesha in 1925, the middle child of Dr. Arthur and Vivian Williams (nee LaHaie). She lived in Waukesha until moving to Florida in 2016.

Nita graduated from Waukesha High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Carroll College.

While attending Carroll College, Nita met Henry A. Youmans Jr., who had recently returned from active duty as an Army officer during World War II and had also completed his degree at Carroll College.

Henry and Nita were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waukesha in 1946. They were married for 54 years and together they raised five children.

Nita was a loving wife and mother who devoted her life to her family. She had a special way of making every visitor feel welcome in her busy home. Henry was president and publisher of the Waukesha Freeman where Nita, at one time, wrote and edited the “Brides Album,” a popular feature of the paper.

Henry and Nita were avid travelers and were fortunate to have had the opportunity to take many enjoyable trips together. She also liked participating in a variety of social activities with her close-knit group of Waukesha friends, which included attending the theatre and concerts, as well as, playing bridge. For many years Nita was actively involved in local service organizations including The Ideal Club of Waukesha and Meals On Wheels.

Nita and Henry were longtime members of St. Mary Catholic Church and in later years, St. William Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (David) Dow of Jacksonville, 111., Martha (Peter) Hanson of Lake Geneva, Jane (Remigio) Torres of Tampa, Fla., and son Henry A. (Dana) Youmans III of Bradenton, Fla.; six grandchildren, Noah (Lindsay) Wenger, Ryan (Jennifer) Hanson, Sara (Joe) Elia, Laura (Pietre Valbuena) Torres, Remigio (Onicia) Torres and Gabriel Torres; three great-grandchildren, Alainn, Aine and Malachy Hanson; son-in-law James Liban of Milwaukee; brother-in-law Hans Hamm of Waukesha; and sisters-in-law Elizabeth E. Williams of Delafield and Miriam Wellford of Waukesha. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Nita was preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Youmans Jr.; daughter Ann Liban; grandson Jeffrey P. Hanson; son-in-law Dr. Steven Wenger; parents, Arthur J. Williams, MD, and Vivian L. Williams; two brothers. Dean J. and Arthur J. Williams; and sister, Marilyn “Maren” Linley Private funeral services will be held in Florida.
