James Richard Kosanke Sr.
March 29, 1927 — Feb. 9, 2018

A lifelong resident of Pewaukee, Jim was a member of the U.S. Army and Army Reserves for 20 years. He enlisted in the Army in 1945, completed basic training at Fort Knox, Ky., and served active duty in the Armored Infantry Division, stationed in Germany during the occupation from 1945-1948. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and was honorably discharged as sergeant first class in 1948 at which time he enlisted in the Army Reserves and helped to start the Pewaukee Army Reserve Unit.

Jim was a member of Queen of Apostles Catholic Church and a 50-year member of the Milwaukee Carpenters Union Local 344, from which he retired in 1990.

He was married to his beloved wife, Delores Kosanke (nee Seaman) for 63 years; loving father to John (Michele) Kosanke, Jill (Kamran) Faterioun, Jeffry (Lori) Kosanke and Jeanine (Joseph) Dable; loving grandfather to 10 grandchildren, Alison (Adam) Ward, Maryam Faterioun, Eliott Kosanke, Marjan Faterioun, Candice Kosanke, Nicole Kosanke, Sara Faterioun, Jessica Dable, Zachariah Faterioun and Julia Dable; and loving great-grandfather to Amelia Ward.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Kosanke; son James R. Kosanke Jr.; and daughter Jacqueline Kosanke.

A kind, good and honorable man who loved his God, his family, his country, his friends and his home — he is loved by all who knew him. Jim passed into God’s loving care on February 9, 2018, at the age of 90.

The family’s gratitude is given to AngelsGrace Hospice for their care and support.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 15, at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, N35-W23360 Capitol Drive, City of Pewaukee, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and again on Friday from 11 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon. Private burial St. Mary’s Cemetery, Pewaukee.
