Constance G. Howden
Oct. 13, 1924 — Feb. 6, 2018

Constance G. Howden passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at the age of 93. She was born on October 13, 1924, to Arthur and Gladys (Frank) Rhodee in Oconomowoc.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; her sister-in-law Judy Rhodee; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Rhodee, who died on September 26, 2009, and her sister Carol Rhodee, who died in 1933.

Connie graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1942. She married James W. Howden from North Dakota at Dr. Martin Luther Church on June 26, 1949. She was a drum majorette with the Oconomowoc Legion Band for 41 years. She traveled coast to coast and to Hawaii three times with the band. Also, she marched in three inaugural parades and the Rose Bowl parade in 1959. She was National Drum Majorette Champion of the Legion in 1946, San Francisco, Calif. She was also a member of the Dr. Martin Luther Church choir for years singing the “Hallelujah Chorus,” which was very memorable to her.

Connie worked at Carnation Co., for Vilas Rasmussen, Attorney, and Clarence Bowe, and 26 years at the Bank of Oconomowoc. She helped her brother Ken at Rhodee’s Floral and Greenhouse from 1973 to 2010. For a hobby, she kept a diary every single day for 71 years between 1941 and 2012. This was influenced by her Aunt Elsie Frank, who also kept a diary for most of her life. Her biggest love was parading, running and traveling in their motor home.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 9, at Dr. Martin Luther Church, 325 S. Main St., Oconomowoc.

Memorials to the church or the Legion Band are appreciated.
