Nov. 25, 1928 — Feb. 13, 2018
Olivia Llanas of Waukesha gracefully left this world on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, just in time to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day with her beloved husband, Pedro — their souls are now reunited.
She passed away at her home with her loving family by her side at the age of 89. She was born in New Braunfels, Texas, on November 25, 1928, the daughter of Crescenciano and Emilia (Zamarripa) Arreazola. Olivia was a 1950 graduate of Waukesha High School. She married Pedro Llanas Sr. on June 23, 1951, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waukesha; he preceded her in death on October 17, 2010. She worked at WCTI for 10 years as a teacher’s aide for ESL (English as a Second Language).
Olivia was a charter member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Both the Llanas and Arreazola families were featured in the book “Latinos in Waukesha” as being among the first Hispanic families to settle in Waukesha.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Peter A. (Donna) Llanas of the Town of Genesee, Irene Llanas of Waukesha, Ray (Molly) Llanas of Waukesha, Dean (Sue) Llanas of Waukesha, Mary (Dave) Nadolny of Waukesha and Emy (Marty) Wood of Waukesha. She was the dear grandmother of Corrina (Chad), Peter (Jessica), Dean (Beth), Heather (Dan), Etta (Troy), Emily (Gabe), Erin (Danny), Haley, Destry, Sara, Ian (Linda), Rachel (Luke) and Jordan and great-grandmother of Lola, Greyden, Luna, Olivia, Andre, Nika, Willa, Ivan, Elian, Emiliano, Oliver, Katie, Baby Sonnentag due in February and Baby Llanas due in March. She is further survived by her sisters, Mary (the late Robert) Showers of Fond du Lac, Emily (James) Appenzeller of Town of Genesee, Gracie (the late Benito) Rodriguez of McAllen, Texas, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, John Mark, and siblings, Aureliano “Al” (Sally) Arreazola, Rachel (Jose) Perez, Isabel (Benito) Garcia, John (Anita) Arreazola, Rafaela Arreazola and Daniel Arreazola.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20, from 10 a.m. until time of the 12 noon Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha.
