Kenneth Robert Dixon
Kenneth Robert Dixon, 54, of Waukesha, died on
August 14, 2019. He battled cancer the way he lived,
with quiet strength, dignity, and grace. He was the
son of Lauraine (Morse) Dixon and Robert Dixon, and
brother of David. Ken leaves behind his wife,
Barbara (nee Biwer) and sons Dalton and Calvin.
Ken and Barb were married in 1993 and raised their
family in Waukesha. He graduated from Waukesha North
High School in 1983 and attended UW-La Crosse. He
built a successful career in the field of
telecommunications and cabling as a technician,
designer, project manager and business owner.
Ken devoted much of his time and talent to youth
athletics in Waukesha. His involvement began with
supporting his sonsí sports teams and he continued
to lead even after they graduated. He coached
football for the Waukesha Youth Football program and
lacrosse for the Waukesha Nighthawks. Whenever there
was a need, on or off the field, Ken could be
counted on to step forward. He directed the
Nighthawks lacrosse program for over a year. His
contribution as a coach and mentor was recognized
with the establishment of a Perseverance award in
his name to be presented annually to a deserving
Ken was an amazing husband and father. To his family
and friends he was selfless, dependable and always
ready with a story. His generosity and friendliness
were felt by all whose lives he touched. In addition
to coaching, he loved to spend time outdoors, at the
lake, on the boat or in the woods.
Ken is survived by his wife, Barbara, and sons
Dalton and Calvin; his mother, Lauraine; his father,
Bob and wife Bonnie; his brother Dave of Ketchikan,
Alaska; and his father-and-mother-in-law, Tom and
Sally Cherek. He also leaves many brothers- and
sisters-in law, and many more nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters- in-law Lisa Dixon and
Ken will be greatly missed. A gathering to celebrate
his life will be planned for late September.
