WAUKESHA

Kenneth Robert Dixon

Kenneth Robert DixonKenneth Robert Dixon, 54, of Waukesha, died on August 14, 2019. He battled cancer the way he lived, with quiet strength, dignity, and grace. He was the son of Lauraine (Morse) Dixon and Robert Dixon, and brother of David. Ken leaves behind his wife, Barbara (nee Biwer) and sons Dalton and Calvin.

Ken and Barb were married in 1993 and raised their family in Waukesha. He graduated from Waukesha North High School in 1983 and attended UW-La Crosse. He built a successful career in the field of telecommunications and cabling as a technician, designer, project manager and business owner.

Ken devoted much of his time and talent to youth athletics in Waukesha. His involvement began with supporting his sonsí sports teams and he continued to lead even after they graduated. He coached football for the Waukesha Youth Football program and lacrosse for the Waukesha Nighthawks. Whenever there was a need, on or off the field, Ken could be counted on to step forward. He directed the Nighthawks lacrosse program for over a year. His contribution as a coach and mentor was recognized with the establishment of a Perseverance award in his name to be presented annually to a deserving athlete.

Ken was an amazing husband and father. To his family and friends he was selfless, dependable and always ready with a story. His generosity and friendliness were felt by all whose lives he touched. In addition to coaching, he loved to spend time outdoors, at the lake, on the boat or in the woods.

Ken is survived by his wife, Barbara, and sons Dalton and Calvin; his mother, Lauraine; his father, Bob and wife Bonnie; his brother Dave of Ketchikan, Alaska; and his father-and-mother-in-law, Tom and Sally Cherek. He also leaves many brothers- and sisters-in law, and many more nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sisters- in-law Lisa Dixon and Ann Cherek.

Ken will be greatly missed. A gathering to celebrate his life will be planned for late September.
