Marvin H. Groth
A committal service will be held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 10 at the Wisconsin Memorial Park Family Center, South Chapel in Milwaukee, for Marvin H. Groth of Sun City West, Ariz., who passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005 at his home at the age of 90. A memorial service was held on Nov. 29 at Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West.
Marvin was born in Cedarburg on Jan. 31, 1915, son of Otto and Amanda Groth. During World War II, he served for 3 1/2 years in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He worked for the federal government for 36 years and retired in 1977 as postmaster of Cedarburg.
In 1985, Marvin and his wife Gertrude moved from Cedarburg to Arizona. They were charter members of Crown of Life Lutheran Church of Sun City West and volunteers for Sun Health Foundation at Boswell Hospital in Sun City.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gertrude (nee Krueger); children Suzanne (Peter) Gruman of Shawnee, Kan., and David (Christine) Groth of Hartland; grandchildren Keri (Chris) Patterson of South St Paul, Minn., Daniel (Mae Luen) of Spring, Texas, William Groth of Portland, Ore. and James Groth of Mumbai, India; great-grandchildren Caleb and Hope Patterson; and brother-in-law William (Louise) Krueger of Sun City West. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Sun Health Hospice in Sun City or Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West, Ariz.
