Melvin L. Moths
Melvin L. Moths, 91, a lifelong resident of Sheboygan County, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005 at Gables on the Pond in Random Lake.
He was born on May 3, 1914 on the east side of the town of Scott near Silver Creek, the son of the late Hugo and Anna (Machut) Moths.
Melvin met his wife, Dorothy Haack, on the west side of the town of Scott, and they were united in marriage on Aug. 30, 1941 in the middle of the town of Scott at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
The couple made their home and farmed in the town of Scott milking cows until Melvin was 70 years old.
Melvin was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott where he was the Sunday superintendent and served on the cemetery board.
He was a member of the Lutheran Layman League, serving on the District board for many years, and also served on the Random Lake Co-op Board of Directors for 36 years.
Melvin loved caring for the land and also his family, particularly his wife, Dorothy, over the past 10 months.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy; four children, Dale Moths of Denair, Calif., Joel (Jackie) Moths of Elkhart Lake, Melva (Martin) Stockwell of Salem and Darlene (Wilfred) Strack of Medford; two sister-in-laws, Ruth Fraunheim of Antigo and Lavern Junge of Random Lake; a former daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Moths of Turlock, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Stanisch and a brother, Wilmer Moths.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott.
Rev. Kurt Ziemann will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday at the church from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services.
