Patrick "Pat" OíNeil
Chances are youíve crossed paths with Patrick "Pat" OíNeil. As a respected member of the Milwaukee area community, a skilled businessman and loyal friend, Pat was the kind of person you remember.
A Wisconsin native, Pat completed his undergraduate study at Marquette University and earned his law degree from the UW-Madison. His love of those two schools extended beyond his years as a student, as he was a regular face in the crowd at Marquette basketball and Wisconsin football games. A sports fanatic and fierce competitor, Pat was known across the state as an accomplished racquetball player. Unfortunately, as hard as he tried, Pat never quite achieved the same level of success with his golf game, another sport he loved to play.
In 1973, Pat helped create the practice of OíNeil, Cannon, Hollman, DeJong, SC, which is now one of the 15 largest law firms in the Milwaukee metropolitan area. He represented major domestic and international business in complex legal transactions, and colleagues say his unparalleled creativity and passion made him one of the best in the business.
But his greatest passion was clearly his family. His wife Barb was his lifelong companion. The two loved attending local plays and social events around town. Pat lived for his two children, Mike and Reagan. Mike loved soccer, so in 1985, Pat helped establish the Mequon Soccer Club, and was one of his sonís most loyal fans at his soccer games. Reagan was active in gymnastics and softball. Besides attending all of Reaganís gymnastic meets, Pat never missed the chance to see his daughter hit one out of the park in softball. He adored his grandchildren Jack and Caitlyn.
Friends say underneath his pit bull exterior, Pat had a heart of gold. Pat was laid to rest on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005. He will be missed.
