Sylvester L. Otten "Sod"

Sylvester L. Otten "Sod," 76, of Slinger, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005 at the Bradley Health and Rehab Center in Milwaukee.

He was born on Dec. 12, 1929 in Barton to Anthony and Cecelia (nee Goldammer). He was raised all his life in Barton, served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-’54 and married his sweetheart on May 2, 1953 at St. Agnes Church in Milwaukee.

Sod was the manager of Screw Machine Products Co. until his retirement, was part of Otten Bros. Auction Service with his brother Eugene.

He loved fishing and outdoor things, hunting and spending time with his friend Whitey Rick.

Sod was a member of Knights of Columbus in West Bend, the St. Joseph’s Society and St. Mary’s Church in Barton since he was born.

Sylvester is survived by his wife Janet; his children Lynn (David) Tennies of Slinger, Deb (Dean) Otten of Slinger, Reenie (Reuben) Tetzlaff of Neenah, Mark (Janet) of Menomonee Falls, Lisa (Dennis) Abrahamson of Waupaca and Michael (Mary Jo) of Kewaskum; 15 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; his sister Rosie (Charlies) Hunt of Georgia; two brothers, Eugene (Susan) Otten of West Bend, Hugh Otten of Racine; sisters-in-law Betty Otten of West Bend, Margie Hill (fiancˇ Dan) of Milwaukee; brothers-in-law Dale King of Richfield, Vince (Joan) Luebke of Appleton, Ronald (Tina) Luebke of New Mexico; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mary and Lucille; brother Leo "White;" two grandsons, Joseph Paul and Luke Fredrich; brother-in-law Jim Hill; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005 at St. Mary’s Immaculate conception Church in Barton at noon with Fr. Michael Moran officiating.

Burial will take place at St. Peter’s cemetery in Farmington.

In state at the church only on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.
