Kenneth A. Burmeister
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. this evening at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cedarburg for Kenneth A. Burmeister of Cedarburg, who died at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital on Friday, Dec. 16, 2005 at the age of 69. Visitation will be held at the church today, from 4 p.m. until time of service, and interment will take place at Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg. Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ken was born on Feb. 2, 1936 in Milwaukee, son of the late Edward and Erna (nee Maronde) Burmeister. On Feb. 2, 1963 Ken married Shirley (nee Riebe). Early in his life, Ken drove trucks for the Cedarburg Truck Lines (his family’s business), until the company was sold in 1964. Ken then worked in retail sales for the Bauman & Hoffman hardware store in Cedarburg.
Ken was member of the Cedarburg Fire Department for over 50 years and also served as deputy chief for many years. He was an active member of the church council at Immanuel Lutheran Church and was also involved in many other church-related activities.
Ken was a great handyman and enjoyed fixing and repairing anything he could. He would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He also loved to travel and spend time with his family.
Ken is survived by his wife and best friend Shirley (nee Riebe) Burmeister; son Mark Burmeister; brother Ed (Lynn) Burmeister; sister-in-law Janet (Ray) Gurtner; nephews Alan (Connie) Gurtner and Eric Burmeister; and niece Kimberly Burmeister.
Ken is further survived by other relatives and friends.
