Delmar E. Meyer

Delmar E. Meyer of the town of Erin passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005 at his home. He was 71 years old.

He was born Sept. 23, 1934 in St. Helena, Neb. to Nicholas and Frances (nee Schroeder) Meyer. He married Karen Rosenthal on April 18, 1964 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Thompson.

Delmar was retired after working for Mercury Marine for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961. Delmar enjoyed hunting and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; one daughter, Frances (Thomas) Selle of Allenton; two sons, Brian (Donna) of Hartford and Nick (Jodi) of Iron Ridge; seven grandchildren, Kristine (fiance’ Shane), Erik, Kayla, Derick, Chase, Heather and Holly; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Veronica; two brothers, Melvin (Janice) of Omaha, Neb. and Dennis (Cardi) Meyer of Tea, S.D.; three sisters, Mary Ann Janssen, Dee (Darold) Paulson of Crofton, S.D. and Eileen (Dale) List of Pierre, S.D.; and one brother-in-law, James Ankeny of Hartington, Neb. Delmar is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Delmar was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alverda; brother, Larry; and brother-in-law, George Janssen.

Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Thompson, with Fr. Fred Alexander officiating. Family greeted relatives and friends on Monday, Dec. 26, 2005 at the funeral home, with a prayer service.

Interment at the new St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Thompson.

Memorials to the American Diabetes Association or St. Mary of the Hill appreciated.
