Gregory G. "Greg" Gundrum

Gregory G. "Greg" Gundrum of Hartford, formerly of Slinger, was welcomed home by his Lord on Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, at Hartford Healthcare Center surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 88 years.

Greg was born Dec. 7, 1917 to John F. and Anna (nee Martin) Gundrum in Theresa, where he was also raised and received his education. He married the love of his life and best friend, Mildred H. Eckhart, on Sept. 7, 1940 at St. Hubertís Catholic Church in Hubertus. Greg was a dedicated dairy farmer in the Richfield and Slinger areas for over 36 years. Their family farm remains, and is known today as Heritage Trails County Park on Hwy. E. Greg devoted ten years to working at Menasha Corporation in Hartford, until his retirement in 1984. The couple moved to Slinger in 1990. They enjoyed many years of traveling and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Greg was a member of St. Peterís Catholic Church in Slinger, the Milwaukee Co-op Milk Producers, a charter member of the Washington County Farm Bureau and former member of St. Maryís Catholic Church in Richfield. He also served on the Appeals Board for the town of Polk for many years.

Greg will be deeply missed and reside forever in the hearts of his beloved wife and best friend, Mildred H. (nee Eckhart) Gundrum; his adored children, Elaine (Ralph) Wagner of Hartford, Leslie (Mariann) Gundrum of West Bend, Rita Lochen of West Bend, Robert (Linda) Gundrum of Menomonee Falls and Diana (Mark) Weber of Ames, Iowa. Ten cherished grandchildren, Pam (Steve) Kescenovitz of Slinger, Angela Wagner of Pewaukee, Penny (Alan) Tank of New London, Jane Wagner of Hartford, Nick Gundrum of Menomonee Falls, Cindy (Scott) Bellon of West Bend, Karen (Zach) Mueller of Richfield, Matthew, Jonathan and Michael Weber, all of Ames. Two treasured great grandchildren, Alison and Melissa Kescenovitz. He will also be missed by his siblings, Josephine Brittain of Slinger and Christina Wood of Milwaukee; and his sister-in-law, Othilda Gundrum of West Bend. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Gundrum; his siblings, John (Marie) Gundrum, Ben (Grace) Gundrum, Jacob (Elizabeth) Gundrum, Andrew Gundrum, Theodore (Jeanette) Gundrum, Angeline (John) Schmitz, an infant brother, Anton, an infant sister, Anna and son-in-law, Paul Lochen, and an infant grandson, Mark Wagner.

Visitation with family and friends was Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005 at church prior to the Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial to honor the life of Greg was Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005 at St. Peterís Catholic Church in Slinger, with Father Richard J. Stoffel officiating. Cremation was at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend, with interment of ashes at St. Maryís Cemetery of Richfield. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for memorials that are offered in lieu of flowers.

The Gundrum family would like to extend a sincere "Thank You" to all of the staff at the Hartford Healthcare Center and Heartland Hospice for the warm and loving care Gregory received while there.
