Ruth M. Spanaus (nee Barker)

Ruth M. Spanaus, nee Barker, 73, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2005 at Froedtert Hospital, Wauwatosa.

Ruth was born in 1932 and was raised in Milwaukee. She attended Mother of Good Counsel Catholic Grade School and graduated from Pius XI High School in 1950.

She won an award for a training program to learn the bookkeeping and billing machines and went on to work at Northwestern Mutual Life.

Ruth met Dan Spanaus in high school and they were wed in 1952.

They had five children, Debbie (Dave) Lovrek, Sue (Vic Zisis) Pride, Dennis (Diane) Spanaus, Patrick (Sandy) Spanaus and Jeff Spanaus; 11 grandchildren, Jodi (Brian) Dahl, Nicole Lovrek, Sabrina (Joel) Brey, Karly Pride, Jolene Pride (her angel in heaven), and Tyler, Jessie, Julie, Neville, Jake and Krissy Spanaus; and great-grandchildren, Collin, Ashlyn and Danielle.

She is further survived by her dear brother and sister-in-law, Al (Dolores) Kubiak; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding Ruth in death were her parents, Jack and Ruth Barker; her parents-in-law, Josephine and Charlie Spanaus; her brother, Bruce Barker, and her beloved husband, Dan Spanaus.

Ruth unconditionally loved her husband, children and all her grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor the life of Ruth will be held on Saturday, Dec. 31, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 S. Seventh Ave., West Bend, at noon, with Father Jeffrey Haines officiating.

Cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend, followed by interment of ashes at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday at the church only from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the charity of the donorís choice.
