Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistadt on Nov. 4 for Kurt Stephan of Mequon, who, surrounded by his family, found eternal peace on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005 at the age of 80. Private interment took place on Nov. 5 at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield. Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Mequon assisted the family with arrangements.
Kurt was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in mechanical engineering. After 38 years of service, he retired from the Philips Corporation (formerly Centralab). He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistadt.
Kurt was the beloved husband of 55 years to Germaine "Gerry" Stephan; the loving father of Debbie (Wally) Sommers and Craig (Mary) Stephan; and the proud grandfather of Emily, Grant, Philip and Nicholas. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Michael Schuetz and his staff, and the staff at both Seasons Hospice and Columbia St. Mary’s Hospice in Milwaukee for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church or the Milwaukee Rescue Mission would be deeply appreciated by the family.
