June C. Wahner
A memorial celebration will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 19 at the Mercer United Methodist Church for June C. Wahner (formerly of Mercer), who passed away peacefully at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005 at the age of 87. The Rev. Larry Olson will officiate the celebration. June’s family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church, prior to the service. McKevitt Patrick Funeral Home of Ironwood, Mich., is assisting the family with arrangements.
June was born on June 23, 1918 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late William and Clara Stiedemann. She attended schools in the Milwaukee area and was the beloved wife of the late Vern Wahner for 63 years.
June was a caring wife and mother, skilled homemaker and worked a variety of jobs in the Milwaukee area. In 1953, June and her family moved to Mercer, where she served as the information booth attendant for many years. She was employed by the Mercer Post Office until she retired in 1988. June loved flowers, nature, all dogs - especially golden retrievers and Westies - and staying in touch with family and friends.
June is survived by her children Jim (Dorothy) Wahner of Mequon, Susan Mueller and Charlotte Ware of Milwaukee; grandchildren William Mueller IV and Heather Ware of Milwaukee, Terri (Tigani Eltahir) Oehrlein of Madison and Mike (Kristie) Oehrlein of Morrison, Colo.; nephews William Stiedemann of Menomonee and Mark (Irene) Stiedemann of Escondido, Calif.; niece Mary Sheldon of Nobleboro, Maine; and cousin Robert (Jean) Koehler of Mequon. She is further survived by eight beautiful great-grandchildren and many friends.
