John C. "Jack" Russell
John C. "Jack" Russell of the town of Erin passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005 at Angelís Grace in Oconomowoc. He was 88 years old.
He was born Nov. 27, 1916 in Hartford to John C. and Pearl (nee Chambers) Russell.
He married Geraldine Taubert on July 7, 1966 at St. Judeís in Milwaukee.
Jack graduated from Hartford High School in 1934 and from Marquette University in 1940.
He received his masterís degree in 1955, after serving in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 45th Division in Europe.
He received three Purple Hearts and the Bronze star. Jack was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the Courtney-Carr-Milner American Legion Post # 19 and the Hartford VFW Post # 8834.
Jack worked as an administrator in the Elementary schools in Milwaukee.
Jack loved refinishing old furniture and playing sheepshead.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gerry; three children, Marilee Fuss, John Russell, and Maureen Russell; four grandchildren, Ron (Kris) Kuenstler, Karryn (Stuart) Mapes, John Paul and Drew Russell; five great-grandchildren, Aaron, Nathan, Erin, Nicole and Bradley.
Jack is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Pearl Russell, and his brother, Robert J. Russell.
Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005 at St. Patrickís Catholic Church, in the town of Erin with Fr. Fred Alexander officiating.
Family greeted relatives and friends on Monday at the funeral home and there was a prayer vigil.
Entombment at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield
