Robert G. Roberts

Robert G. Roberts, 92, longtime resident of San Luis Obispo, Calif., died peacefully at home in La Grande, Ore. on Monday, Sept. 26, 2005.

Mr. Roberts was born in Paris, Wis. on July 5, 1913, to the late William and Della (Hardy) Roberts.

He attended school in Union Grove and in 1937 graduated from the Lincoln Chiropractic College in California.

He married Alice E. Berg on June 27, 1942 in Milwaukee.

He was a chiropractor in West Bend until 1963 when he and Alice moved to San Luis Obispo.

In 2000, the couple moved to La Grande to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law.

In addition to his career as a chiropractor, Mr. Roberts had numerous outside interests.

He was an inveterate tinkerer and inventor.

He was an avid pilot, beginning with a glider he built himself in high school, and continued flying gliders and his own airplane well into his 80s.

Mr. Roberts loved fishing and his advice was frequently sought by others. He began in the lakes of Wisconsin and finished offshore near San Luis Obispo and the couple’s second home in Kino bay, Mexico.

Survivors include his wife, Alice; two children and their spouses, Cheryl and Robert Brandon of La Grande and Griffith and Kate Roberts of Bishop, Calif.; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was the eldest in a family of three brothers and a sister, all of whom preceded him in death.
