Janet Louise Collette

A memorial reception will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Mequon for Janet Louise Collette. A memorial service at 11 a.m. and a luncheon will follow the reception. On Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005 Janet passed away surrounded by her loving husband and family, at her second home in Cocoa Beach, Fla., at the age of 79. Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach, Fla., is assisting the family with arrangements.

Janet was born in Cleveland, Ohio, where she was a figure skater. She attended Purdue University located in West Lafayette, lnd. An active member of Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Mequon, she volunteered her expertise in accounting for nearly 40 years. She also donated her time at the Weyenberg Library of Mequon-Thiensville, where she worked in the stacks for nearly 40 years while circulation grew to 350,000. Along with her lifetime involvement in community service, she was a longtime sponsor of the Milwaukee Repertory Theater. Besides caring for both domestic and wild animals, she enjoyed gardening, traveling, walking, downhill skiing and summer sailing, and was an avid reader of current events and an all-around sports fan.

Janet is survived by her husband of 57 years, David Walton Collette; daughter Janine Collette; sons Jeff (Ann) Collette of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Thomas (Renee) Collette of East Troy and John (Marion) Collette of Hesperia, Calif.; grandchildren John and Caroline Collette of Ft. Lauderdale and Jay Collette of Hesperia; sisters Viola White of Raleigh, N.C., and Arline (John) Hanson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. She is further survived by friends in Indiana, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania and Illinois, where Janet and her husband resided as well.

Janet was preceded in death by her son, William Paul Collette.
