Michael J. Halbauer
Michael J. Halbauer of Slinger, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born to Peter J. and Carolyn A. Halbauer in Milwaukee on May 23, 1987, and grew up in the Slinger area.
Michael was a graduate of Slinger High School, class of 2005, and was active in band, jazz band, jazz ensemble, was a drum major, and recipient of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award.
He also belonged to the German Honor Society.
He also received numerous awards for snowboard competitions.
Michael is survived by his parents Peter and Carolyn (nee Groshek) Halbauer and he was the dear brother of Christopher. He is further survived by his maternal grandparents, Rich and Judy Groshek of Hubertus, his paternal grandparents, Opi and Omi Adolf and Magda Meinhardt of Erin, his girlfriend, Rhiannon Kowalski, and her mother, Denise, and her brother, John Kowalski, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was on Tuesday Oct. 11, 2005 at St. Peterís Catholic Church in Slinger with Fr. Richard Stoffel officiating.
Interment took place at New St. Peterís Cemetery following the Mass. Visitation was at the church on Monday, Oct. 10, with a Prayer Vigil that night.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Michael J. Halbauer Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o West Bend Savings in Slinger.
The family wishes to give special thanks of gratitude and love to all his classmates and administrators at Slinger High School, to the Snowburst local crew for their devotion and caring support during his illness and to Childrenís Hospital of Wisconsin for their loving care.
