Raymond H. "Ray" Giencke
Raymond H. "Ray" Giencke, 89, of Slinger, was welcomed home by his Lord on Monday, Oct. 10, 2005 surrounded by his treasured family.
Ray was born June 30, 1916 to Theodor "Ted" and Wilhelimina "Minnie" (nee Ziemer) Giencke in Menomonee Falls "Fussville," where he was also raised.
He graduated from Menomo-nee Falls High School.
Ray married the love of his life, Katherine M. Wick, on May 24, 1941 at St. Anthonyís Catholic Church, Menomonee Falls.
After marriage the couple lived in Menomonee Falls, Hubertus, and later resided in Slinger.
Ray retired as a machinist at Chrysler Outboard Motor Co. of Hartford in 1978.
He was a member of St. Peterís Catholic Church, Slinger.
Among his favorite pastimes, Ray was an avid gardener and golfer, and loved to spend quality time with his family and friends.
Ray will be greatly missed by his best friend and loving wife, Katherine; his treasured children, Janet and Richard Panten of Slinger, Carol Komp of Rubicon, Jeanne and Michael Murphy of Horicon, Kathleen Giencke of Canon Lake, Texas, Linda and Ed Moline of Vernon, Daniel and Laurie Giencke of Hartford, Mary Jane Anderson of Mauston, Laura and Anthony Holl of Allenton and Joan and Richard Jacklin of Sussex; 26 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Friz of Kokomo, Ind. and a sister-in-law, Heidi Giencke of Milwaukee.
He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other special relatives, and many dear friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, four brothers, and a granddaughter, Cheri Komp.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. at St. Peterís Catholic Church, Slinger.
Father Richard J. Stoffel officiated, and interment was in New St. Peterís Cemetery of the town of Hartford.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to extend their appreciation for memorials designated to either St. Peterís Endowment Fund or the Heartland Hospice.
The Phillip Funeral Home of Slinger assisted the family.
