Donald Gantner, 72, of Ran-dom Lake, passed away Sunday evening, April 6, 2006, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Hospital in Sheboygan.
Don "Ginny" was born in Holy Cross on July 5, 1933, the son of Leo and Genevieve (nee Wellen-stein) Gantner, and was united in marriage with Valerie Krzemin-ski on April 26, 1958 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada.
Mr. Gantner had worked at Gehl Co. in West Bend in the maintenance department. He retired in 1995 after more than 30 years with the company.
Don was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, a loyal member of the AFL-CIO and the Hexelbank Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing in Canada, golfing and woodworking. He also spent time gardening, bird-watching and just being outside enjoying nature.
Suvivors include his wife of 48 years, Valerie; and their three children, Craig (Anna) Gantner of Fergus Falls, Minn., Cathie Gantner-Overmyer, M.D. (Craig Overmyer), of River Forest, Ill. and Chris (Lisa) of Reading, Pa.
He is further survived by five grandchildren, Timothy, Lauren, Kate, Genevieve and Julia; two brothers, Vernon Gantner of Random Lake and Virgil (Shirley) Gantner of Fredonia; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ambrose and Kenneth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, St. Nicholas Chapel, Dacada.
Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Random Lake.
The family will receive visitors at the church on Wednesday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is assisting the family.
