Rev. Victor A. Kemmer
Rev. Victor A. Kemmer, 88, of St. Killian passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Cedar Community, West Bend.
He was born July 28, 1917 in Milwaukee, the son of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Steger) Kemmer.
He began his studies for the priesthood at St. Lawrence Sem-inary in Mt. Calvary and then at St. Francis Seminary in Milwau-kee.
His ordination took place on March 20, 1943 at St. John’s Cathedral in Milwaukee.
Father Kemmer served at St. Frederick in Cudahy from 1943-’51, St. James in Kenosha from 1951-’59, St. George and St. Rose in Sheboygan from 1959-’62, St. Nicholas in Dacada from 1962-’70, St. Mathew in Campbellsport from 1970-’86 and St. Kilian in St. Killian from 1986 until the present.
He enjoyed hunting, spending time at his cabin in northern Wisconsin and wood carving, with many friends being the recipients of his craftsmanship.
Survivors include his faithful housekeeper, Rosina Brunner; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his brothers and sisters, Lillian Juedes, John, Mary Jaep, Anna Schilling, Joseph, Frances Holl, Raymond, Jacob, Edward, Clara and Helen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Killian.
Archbishop Timothy Dolan will officiate and burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.
Visitation at the church will be on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. and also on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials are appreciated to Latin Tridentine Mass at St. Mary’s Help of Christians or St. Lawrence Seminary.
