Roger A. Oelerich

Roger A. Oelerich, 80, of West Bend, formerly of Menomonee Falls, was welcomed into the gates of heaven on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Roger was born on May 26, 1925 to John P. and Anna (nee Utchig) Oelerich in New Holstein, and was raised in the Pipe area.

He attended and graduated from Fond du Lac High School.

After graduation, Roger honorably served his country with the United States Army during World War II.

After returning home, he was introduced to Dorothy Hartman at Eagles Ballroom in Oshkosh on a blind date. On Oct. 16, 1948, the couple devoted their love and their lives to one another in Oshkosh and began a beautiful family of their own.

Their family found residence in several areas, including Fond du Lac, Omaha, Neb. and Iowa, until eventually settling in Menomonee Falls, where they remained for 40 years.

Roger was a dedicated salesman at Omar Bakery in Fond du Lac, and later at Victor Comptometer in the Milwaukee area.

In 2000, they moved to West Bend.

Throughout Roger’s life, his family was held at the center of his heart. He loved spending every opportunity he was given to be a part of their lives, whether he was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events or going to musicals. He loved to be a father and a grandfather.

He also enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and was known for giving the grandest of hugs.

Roger has forever touched the lives and hearts of his cherished wife and best friend, Dorothy; his treasured children, Linda (Gene) Goble of Greenfield, Ind., Tim (Lynn) Oelerich of West Bend, Barry (Jackie) Oelerich of Germantown and Paul (Ann) Oelerich of Menomonee Falls; his 13 adored grandchildren; 10 loving great-grandchildren; and his dear brother, John (Betty) Oelerich of Grafton.

He will also be missed by many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Roger was united in heaven with his parents; his dear son, Randall, who passed away in 2001; and his brother, Gerald Oelerich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 17, at 4 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend, with Father Gerald Brittain officiating.

Cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend, followed by interment of ashes in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Menomonee Falls.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of Mass at 4 p.m. at church only.
