Richard J. "Rick" DuFour

Richard J. "Rick" DuFour, of West Bend went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph’s Hospital, at the age of 42 years.

Rick was born on Aug. 8, 1963 to Spencer Joseph and Virginia Ann (nee Naparalla) DuFour in Milwaukee. The family later moved to the Port Washington area where Rick was raised, and attended Port Washington High School graduating with the class of 1981. After graduation he went on to further his education at Ellsworth College for several years. Rick honorably served his country with the United States Air Force and was able to experience parts of the country he may not have otherwise. After returning from the service, he devoted his love and companionship to Tammy L. Waala on Dec. 31, 1997 in West Bend. The couple resided in the West Bend area where they began a loving family of their own that Rick was so very fond of. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed fishing in Alma, Wis., watching the Packers, and various sports, including basketball, baseball and golf. He also loved music and often inspired others to open their doors to the blues and rock ‘n’ roll. Above all, Rick shed his purest love onto his wife and children; helping his children in any way he could.

He will be forever loved and missed by his companion and best friend, Tammy L. DuFour; his adored children, Ezra and Emma; his loving mother and father, Virginia and Spencer Dufour of Belgium; dear brother, Randy (Deb) DuFour of Belgium; cherished grandmother, Lee DuFour of Waukesha; treasured Goddaughter, Miranda; mother-in-law, Pat Jossart of West Bend; and siblings-in-law, Jean (Dennis) Waraksa of West Bend, Lisa (Ron) Hays of West Bend, Kathy Waala of West Bend, Jeff (Cealie) Waala of Kewaskum, Dale (Diane) Waala of Kewaskum, and Dan (Barb) Waala of Hartland. Rick will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, other very special relatives, and many dear friends. He was reunited in Heaven with his maternal grandfather, and paternal grandparents.

A Memorial Service to honor Richard will be held on Tuesday, April 18, at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend), with Rev. Lee Bailey officiating. Cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 18, from 5 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for memorials that are offered in honor of Richard in lieu of flowers to an educational fund for their children.
