Elmer C. Heimermann
Elmer C. Heimermann, 79, of Campbellsport, died peacefully at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, with his loving and caring family at his side.
He was born Sept. 29, 1926 in the town of Stockbridge, the son of Ludwig and Dorothy (Buechel) Heimermann, and on Sept. 1, 1949 he married Margaret C. Weiland at St. Matthew’s Church, Camp-bellsport.
The couple lived and farmed in the town of Eden for 50 years.
Elmer enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, bowling and gambling.
He especially enjoyed playing sheepshead and poker with his grandchildren, family and friends.
Elmer will be most remembered for driving his John Deere tractors, wearing his signature straw hat and telling tales of the fish that got away up north at the cabin.
Survivors include his daughters, Linda (John) Schraufnagel of Campbellsport and Jean (Daniel) Hintze of Fond du Lac; his grandchildren, Nicholas, AndrŽ and Natalie Schraufnagel and Zach-ary, Annika and Benjamin Hintze; three brothers, Leonard (Allie) of Hartford, Lester (Donna) of Kiel and Raymond (JoAnn) of Pick-erel; two sisters, Angeline Meyer and Lorraine (Thomas) Bowe, both of Chilton; and a sister-in-law, Rose Heimermann of Kiel.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Marge, on June 26, 1999; a son, Gene Elmer; his parents; a brother, Melvin; and a sister, Marsella Straub.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Church in Campbellsport, following a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. at the Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport.
Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Springs High School, F.A.C.E.S. of Fond du Lac, St. Matthew’s Catholic School or Eden Fire Department.
