John J. "Jack" O’Meara

John J. "Jack" O’Meara, DDS, 96, of West Bend, formerly of Durand, died on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at the Health Care Center of Cedar Community.

He was born on July 15, 1909 in West Bend to the late Joseph and Caroline (nee Thoma) O’Meara.

After graduating from Marquette University Dental School, he established a dental practice in West Bend.

On Sept. 25, 1937, he was united in marriage to Frances Quinnell in Neillsville. Frances passed away Feb. 20, 1994.

In 1942, Jack entered the United States Army, serving as a dental officer.

After his discharge in 1946, he returned to West Bend where he continued his dental practice until 1955 when the family moved to Durand.

He and his wife returned to the West Bend area in 1993.

Survivors include two children, Don (Carolyn) of Hartford and Judy of Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren, John, Mary Noel (David) Cvetan, Michael and Christa (Charles) Hart; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Mark O’Meara of LaCrosse; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were two brothers and two sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 29, at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend, with Father Gerald Brittain presiding.

Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church only on Saturday from 10 until 10:45 a.m.

The family has requested memorials to Cedar Community.
