A private funeral service for the family was held on Aug. 5 at Immanuel Church in Cedarburg for Alfred Sachse, who died peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006 at the age of 89. Interment took place at Zue Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg. Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg served the family.
Alfred Sachse was born on Feb. 27, 1917 to Carl and Adeline (nee Kasten) Sachse. He was a kind and loving man, dedicating a large part of his life to taking care of his mother, who lived to the age of 103. He lived on the family homestead in Mequon all of his life. Alfred touched many people with his kindness, always there when help was needed, making friends wherever he went. He leaves many family members and friends who have benefited from his wisdom and friendship and will miss him a lot.
Alfred spent his later years crafting knickknacks and ornaments from scraps of wood and gave the ornaments to relatives and friends each Christmas. He was persuaded to write recollections of his life, which he did with precision and accuracy. These recollections were made into a book, given to all family members who treasure and cherish his memories.
Alfred is survived by his sister-in-law Viola Sachse; and nephews Charles (Audrey), Donald (Merle), Harry, Fred (Fran), Paul (Mardelle), Kenneth (Marilee) Oberheu, James (Sharon) Oberheu; nieces Catherine (Bruce) Snider, Phyllis (Edgar) Armbruster, Virginia (Tom) Carron, Nancy Sachse; and special friend Randy Piepenburg.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Harry (Evelyn), Paul, George (Meta); sister Linda (Arnold) Oberheu; and infant brother Emil.
Although Alfred has gone to heaven with his Lord and family who preceded him in death, his spirit will always live in the hearts and minds of all who were privileged to have known and loved him.
