Hazel H. Kirst

Hazel H. Kirst, nee Peterson, 77, of the town of Fredonia, passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2006 at St. Maryís Hospital- Ozaukee in Mequon.

She was born on Oct. 8, 1928 in Rockford, Ill. to the late Clarence and Cecil (nee Austin) Peterson, and was united in marriage to Joseph J. Kirst on April 12, 1947 in Port Washington.

Together they farmed in the Fillmore area for nearly 30 years.

Hazel had a green thumb and was an avid gardener.

She loved baseball and the Milwaukee Brewers, and enjoyed playing on the Fillmore womenís softball team as a pitcher for many years.

Hazel also served as the secretary for St. Martinís Union Cemetery in Fillmore for 11 years.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Joseph; three children, Wayne (Karen) Kirst of Kewaskum, Gary (Diana Seiser) Kirst of Eden and Diane (Pete) Paitrick of West Bend; five grandchildren, Todd (Stephanie) Kirst, Timothy (friend Shelly) Kirst, Tami (friend Steve) Kirst, Ryan (Renée) Kirst and Jay (fiancée Jenny) Beth; six great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marie Fay of the town of Fredonia and Helen Sanem of Port Washington; three brothers-in-law, George (Rita) Kirst of Kewaskum, Eu-gene (Theresa) Kirst of Plymouth and Bob (Mary Jane) Kirst of Kewaskum; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Klas.

A funeral service to celebrate Hazelís life will be held on Friday, Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Myrhum- Patten Funeral Home in West Bend with Rev. Jon Bartlett officiating.

Cremation will follow the service with burial of the cremated remains in St. Martinís Union Cemetery in Fillmore.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
