Esther R. Mayer
Esther R. Mayer, nee Held, 93, of Hartford, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006 at the Samaritan Health Center, West Bend.
Esther was born on March 27, 1913 to John and Anne (nee Endres) Held in Hartford, and was raised in the Slinger area.
On Nov. 18, 1931, Esther devoted her love and her life to Henry Mayer. After marriage, the couple began a loving family of their own.
For many years she cooked for the Slinger schools.
Esther also enjoyed playing cards, crocheting for the needy and also for a hobby, and most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.
Esther will be forever loved and remembered by her cherished children, Ann Ingbretson of Spooner, Theodore Mayer of Slinger, LeRoy Mayer of Colorado Springs, Color. and Edward (Beverly) Mayer of Slinger; her treasured grandchildren, Jeffrey (fiancˇe Noelle) Kirsch and Janelle (Curt) Nicolaus; her dear great-grandchildren, Kailey, Wyatt, Cole, and Adriana; and two sisters-in-law, Ilma and Margaret Held.
She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other very special relatives and many dear friends.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Mayer; her parents; her son, John Mayer; four brothers; and one sister.
A memorial service for Esther will be held on Thursday, Aug. 17, at 6 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 4886 Highway 175, Hart-ford, with Father Joseph Dominic officiating.
Cremation will be at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend, with interment of ashes at (old) St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Visitation with family and friends will be held at the church only on Thursday, Aug. 17, from 4 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6 p.m.
The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend is assisting the family.
The family would like to extend a very sincere appreciation to the staff of nursing professionals at the Samaritan Health Center for all their wonderful care and compassion.
