Anthony "Tony" Shefka

Anthony "Tony" Shefka, 81, of Fond du Lac died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006 at Grancare Nursing Home.

He was born on Feb. 23, 1925 in Saxon, the son of the late Anton and Anna Rose (Konkol) Shefka, and graduated in 1941 from Bessemer High School in Bessemer, Mich.

Tony was drafted into the U.S. Army after high school and served his country until 1946.

He married Mary Lou Russell on Feb. 2, 1952 at the Catholic Church in Ramsey, Mich.

Tony was a machinist at the Weasler Engineering Co. until his retirement.

Tony loved the outdoors - hunting and fishing, and was involved in sports, watching the Packers, the Brewers and the Detroit Tigers.

He played horseshoes with the West Bend Moose Lodge.

Tony was a skilled craftsman working with wood making benches and clocks and assorted items.

Survivors include his wife Mary Lou; two daughters, Diane (Jim) Feiereisen of Fond du Lac and Peggy(Mike) Wondra of Lomira; sixgrandchildren, Ryan Hall (Jodi Darvin), Michael Belger (Melinda Malak), Brad Hall, Miranda (Ben Marsh) and Ashley Fechter and Brandon Wondra; and one great-granddaughter, Kaelie Marsh.

Tony is further survived by one brother, Wally Shefka; five sisters, Evelyn Darin, Eleanor Gayan, Mary Ficenec, Jenny Thiebalt and Loretta Olson; nieces, nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Edward and three infant siblings.

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, at 1:30 p.m. at the Holy Family Parish, the Sacred Heart Church in Fond du Lac with Father Victor Capiolo officiating.

Friends may call at the church on Saturday from noon until the time of the service.

Military rites will be performed by the Fond du Lac American Legion following the Mass.
