Jean Kenney Schowalter
Jean Kenney Schowalter, nee Thomas, 96, of West Bend entered into eternal life Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006 at her home on Silver Lake.
Jean was born June 14, 1910 to Lewis and Gertrude (nee Fahs) Thomas in Waukegan, Ill., and married Henry Otto Schowalter on Sept. 3, 1937 in Waukegan.
Jean was born and raised in Waukegan, and attended Wauke-gan Township High School.
She later graduated from the University of Wisconson-Madi-son where she met her husband while they worked on The Daily Cardinal.
Jean was a member of Eastern Star West Bend Chapter 73, she attended Immanuel United Church of Christ and was a member of the Joseph Marest Chapter of DAR.
Jean loved to dance, serving 40 years as secretary of the West Bend Dance Club.
Survivors include two sons, Henry (Margaret) Schowalter of Bedford, Mass. and Thomas (Roberta, deceased) of Pewaukee; three daughters, Kenney Hecht of Alameda, Calif., Laurie (James, deceased) Valerius of West Bend and Linda Schowalter of Ala-meda; 10 grandchlidren, Kim, Kathy, Lisa, Dave, Jason, Steve, Jamie, Julie, Kellie and Amy; three great-grandchildren, So-phie, Riley and Noel; as well as her adopted family, Shari, Shelly and Marty Tikusis.
She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Henry O. Schowal-ter, attorney and former assemblyman from Washington County; her parents; a brother; and a sister.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday Dec. 5, at 3 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, West Bend, followed by burial.
The family will greet guests and friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
