Robert H. "Bob" Boltz
Robert H. "Bob" Boltz, of West Bend, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006 after 81 years of life.
Bob was born on Oct. 23, 1925 to Arthur W. and Hilda E. (nee Priem) Boltz in Watertown, where he was also raised, and graduated from Watertown High School in 1944.
After graduation, he honorably entered into the United States Army Air Corps serving from 1944 to 1946 during World War II as a staff sergeant.
After returning, he furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin-Washington County and then started his career as a self-employed photographer.
Bob was able to enjoy this career until his retirement in 1999.
From 1961 to 1965, Bob was also the deputy coroner for Washington County, and eventually was elected the Washington County coroner from 1965 until 1989.
On December 28, 1980, Bob married Dorothy Ann (nee Voeks-Esselman) at Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend.
He was the founding member of the Decorah Coin Club, was a member of the Wisconsin Press Photographers Association, the National Press Photographers Association, the Kiwanis Club of West Bend since 1964, was past president (1985-1986) and was an active, life member of the Wisconsin State Bowling Associa-tion.
He will be missed by his wife, Dorothy; his stepchildren, Robert (Carrie) Esselman of Idaho, Ann (Denis) Gonring of West Bend, John (Linda) Esselman of West Bend, Paul (Pam) Esselman of Jackson and Alan Esselman of Theresa; his nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He will also be missed by other special relatives and many dear friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Arthur, on March 4, 1965; his mother, Hilda, on April 10, 1980; and an infant sister.
A funeral service in honor of Bob will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 5 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, with Rev. David Schoob officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 5 p.m.
Cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend.
The family would like to express their appreciation in advance for memorials that are offered in lieu of flowers to the charity of one’s choice.
