Alfred M. Lackas
Alfred M. Lackas, 89, of Hartford, surrounded by his loving family, was born to eternal life Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006.
He was born May 28, 1917 in the village of Neosho, the son of John and Meta (nee Ei-mer) Lackas, and married Maxine Cook Oct. 18, 1941 at St. Johnís Cath-olic Church in Rubicon.
Al was a gentle, caring, loving family man who will be deeply missed.
A simple, good teacher, thrifty and self sufficient man is how his family describes him.
He was very creative and enjoyed making things, sometimes out of nothing.
Al loved to hunt and fish.
He was a machine repairman and worked for Kissel Industries, The West Bend Co. and Chrysler Outboard.
During his career, his ability to repair machines was so well known in the area that other companies called on him for repairs.
Al was a member of St. Kilianís Parish for over 65 years where he served as an usher.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; and his children, Sandra (Frank) Zappia of Florida and Scott ( Debora Wallace) Lackas of Juneau.
Also surviving are nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey, Lloyd and Donald, and his sister, Irene.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m. at St. Kilianís Catholic Church, 262 W. State St., Hartford.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
There will be private interment.
Memorials to St. Kilianís Parish would be appreciated.
