Scott J. Gruetzmacher

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. today at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home (305 No. Lowell St.) in Ironwood, Mich., for Scott J. Gruetzmacher. Scott, a resident of the Maple Leaf Group Home in Hurley, died unexpectedly at the age of 53 in his home on Friday, Dec. 15, 2006. The Rev. Jean B. Rencontre, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church in Ironwood, will officiate the funeral service. Visitation will be held today at the funeral home, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., prior to the service. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will take place in Birnamwood. McKevitt-Patrick and Engstrom Funeral and Cremation Services of Ironwood and Hurley are serving the family.

Scott was born on Oct. 26, 1953 in Milwaukee, son of Lois (nee Packard) and the late William Gruetzmacher. He attended a private school in Milwaukee and graduated from Grafton High School. He then attended and graduated from Milwaukee Vocational Technical School where he specialized in small engine repair.

Scott lived in St. Paul, Minn., Phillips, Wausau and, at the time of his death, Hurley where he was employed by the Highline Corp. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and music from the 70s, and had a fond appreciation for pets. Scott had a special relationship with Mary and Arrina at the group home and especially enjoyed playing cards and visiting with his nephews and nieces.

Scott is survived by his mother Lois Panke of Theresa; brothers Jeff (Donna) of Grafton, Kim (Cindy) of St. Paul, Minn., Mike (Linda) of Waterloo, Iowa and Bill (Jill) of Grafton; nieces Lisa, Nicole, Kate and Rachel; and nephews Peter, Kurt, Kent and Ryan.
