Norman Michael Ley

Norman Michael Ley, of West Bend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006 at Cedar Lake Health Care Center, after 89 years of life.

Norman was born on Nov. 6, 1917, the son of Josephine (nee Vechart) Ley in Milwaukee, where he was also raised.

He graduated from Messmer High School in 1935, and furthered his education at Marquette University and the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

After graduation, he began an honorable 27-year career at Mutual Service Life Insurance Co. as an agent, building one of the largest agent accounts in Mutual Service.

Norman will be forever remembered for his great sense of humor.

During his free time he enjoyed golfing, especially at Ozaukee Country Club where he was a longtime member.

One time, Norman impressed all his golf buddies with his hole-in-one at Ozaukee Country Club.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Jacqueline (nee Theby); dear son, Douglas (Andi) Ley; his grandchildren, Ariane and Nicholas; and stepdaughters, Jennifer Ley (Christopher Skar-son), Gretchen Ley and Letitia Ley (Michael Haight).

He will also be missed by other special relatives and dear friends.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Madeleine (nee Hoyer); and a brother, Eugene.

A memorial service in honor of Norman was held on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 3:30 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, with Father Jeffrey Haines officiating.

Visitation with family and friends was also held on Saturday at the funeral home from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3:30 p.m.

Interment of Ashes took place at Resurrection Cemetery on Monday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m.
