Keith Hernikl, 51, of Toma-hawk, formerly of West Bend, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Tomahawk.
He was born April 2, 1955 to Andrew and Bernice Hernikl in West Bend where he grew up.
While in West Bend, Keith was involved with Eagle Scouting, the West Bend Sportsman Club, the Civil War Reenactment Associa-tion, the NRA and the Junior Rifle Association.
He moved to the northwoods in 1978 and managed the Mistletoe Inn from 1981 until 1985.
He sold real estate for Coldwell Real Estate for a few years and had been employed at the Lincoln Hills Correctional School since 1995.
Keith enjoyed spending time with his family, along with hunting, fishing, skiing and boating.
Survivors include a daughter, Joleen Berardi of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Jake Hernikl of Tomahawk; his parents, Andy and Bernice Hernikl of Tomahawk; two sisters, Linda Williamson of Elkhart Lake and Terri Hernikl of Manitowish Waters; a brother, Ken "Krash" Hernikl of Mercer; a niece, Jaime (Cory) Kordosky of Oshkosh; and a special friend, Janine Sharp of Madison.
A Memorial Mass for Keith will be offered at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tomahawk, with Rev. John Anderson officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of services.
The family has requested that memorials be made out in Keith’s name.
Krueger and Sons Funeral Home, Tomahawk, is assisting the family with arrangements.
