Geraldine M. Close

Geraldine M. Close, 76, of Eldorado, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.

She was born Nov. 21, 1930, in Fond du Lac, a daughter of Theodore E. and Marcella C. (Ent-ringer) Hinkes, and graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School in 1949.

On Jan. 31, 1953, she married Donald L. Close in Juneau.

Geraldine was em-ployed at Infant Socks, The American Club of Kohler, Kiekhaefer Corp., and most recently at area canneries.

She also helped her husband, Donald manage their Century Farm.

Geraldine was an active member of Our Risen Savior Catholic Church, Woodhull, and loved singing in the choir and teaching catechism.

She enjoyed serving her community, participating at the Aquatic Center and was a very loving grandmother.

Survivors include three children, Catherine (Bob) Tolsma of Fond du Lac, Donald "Ted" Close and David Close on the home farm; two grandsons, Mark and James Tolsma; two brothers, Donald (Kathryn) Hinkes of Sheboygan Falls and Sylvester (Jeanie) Hinkes of Naples, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Rabe of North Fond du Lac and Ruth (Jack) Meier of Eden; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on July 15, 2006; a brother-in-law, Leonard; five sisters-in-law, Ethyl, Ada, Edna, Eleanor and Jeanette.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Our Risen Savior Catholic Church, Woodhull, with the Rev. John Simon officiating.

Burial followed in North La-martine Cemetery.

The visitation was at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.

The Mach Funeral Home, Fond du Lac, assisted the family.
